By: Gleason Center Editors, Dr. Daniel Gleason DC Chiropractic care is an alternative therapy that focuses on the musculoskeletal and nervous system. A chiropractic adjustment (or spinal manipulation) corrects structural alignment of the body, promotes physical function, and improves neurological function.
At The Gleason Center, we use the integration of muscles, joints, nerves, exercise, nutrition, and stress management in our chiropratic treatment plans. Treatment and recovery happens in our three phases of care.

In fact, the health risks of eating soy based foods outweigh any potential benefits. Well over 90% of soy in the United States is now genetically modified and highly processed. Unfermented soy contains phytoestrogens and goitrogens which disrupt endocrine function and phytic acid which interferes with nutrient absorption. Organic, fermented soy is the safest and most beneficial way to enjoy this food.

While the best place to find fresh fruits and vegetables is from your local farmer’s market; climate, price, and convenience send most of us to the local grocer. By: Gleason Center Editors, Dr. Daniel Gleason DC This month’s newsletter is a follow-up to last month where I discussed the neurological benefits of The Ketogenic Diet. This month I will discuss the why and how-to of The Ketogenic Diet.
The World’s Oldest Diet Many people are finding health benefits by abandoning their fear of fats and enjoying great tasting and nutrient-rich foods like eggs, bacon, avocados, cheese, meats and unlimited vegetables. This way of eating is enjoying resurgence as it is much like the way our hunter-gatherer ancestors naturally ate. Basically it is a high fat, moderate protein, and low carb diet. On a more fundamental level it is our oldest weight maintenance diet. By: Gleason Center Editors, Dr. Daniel Gleason DC Spring is here!
That's the good news. However, with it come seasonal allergies. That's the bad news. Nasal allergies (aka Hay Fever) bring sneezing, itchy/watery eyes, runny nose, and sinus headaches. The associated redness, swelling, and pain indicate inflammation. Allergies come primarily from pollens. In the Spring, it's trees. In the Summer, it's grasses. In the Fall, it's weeds. And molds and fungi are prevalent all year round but are highest in Summer. By: Gleason Center Editors, Dr. Daniel Gleason DC Aha, the old "expensive urine" argument.
When was the last time you heard someone say, "You don't need to take vitamins if you eat a balanced diet. They're just a waste of money." Let's discuss this common misconception. Are your expensive vitamins going right through you? Do you ever think about what else can be found in your urine? How about H2O? Does that mean you shouldn't drink water? Ridiculous, of course. Many essential substances can be detected in urine such as minerals, proteins, and yes, vitamins. It does not mean that you shouldn't eat foods or take supplements with these components in them. Positive urine tests for steroids and other drugs do not prove that these medications fail to work. In fact, if they're present in the urine we assume that they have done their job. These substances, like vitamins, don't pass through the body without having an impact. Our body takes what it needs and discards the rest. By: Gleason Center Editors, Dr. Daniel Gleason DC Laser therapy is a powerful tool our doctors use everyday to help heal chronic pain and inflammation. In this post, we'll answer some of your most frequently asked questions about laser therapy and its benefits.
Q. What is laser therapy? A. Laser therapy is a non invasive, painless therapy that kick starts your body's own healing process. Photons of laser energy penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. As a result of exposure to the MLS Laser, cells of tendons, ligaments, and muscles repair themselves faster. As inflammation is reduced, pain subsides very quickly. |
